We handle personal information in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA Alberta), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Quebec's Law 25, and other applicable provincial privacy legislation that applies when we handle personal information of residents in those provinces.

Shipment data: origin and destination, cargo type and description, weight, pickup window, budget, contact information for the load.

Technical data: IP address, device identifiers, browser type, pages viewed, referring URLs, and similar log data collected automatically.
Cookies: we use strictly necessary cookies for sign-in and security, and analytics cookies (with your consent where required) to understand how the Platform is used.
2. How we use your information
- To create and operate your account;
- To match Shippers with Carriers and facilitate transportation contracts;
- To verify Carrier credentials and conduct fraud prevention;
- To process payments and release escrow funds;
- To send transactional emails (load updates, receipts, dispute notices) and, with your consent, marketing emails;
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms;
- To improve the Platform.
3. Legal basis
We rely on (a) your consent (which you may withdraw at any time), (b) the necessity of processing for a contract to which you are party, (c) compliance with legal obligations, and (d) our legitimate business interests, balanced against your rights.
4. Sharing your information
We share information with:
- The other party to a transaction (Shipper ↔ Carrier) — name, contact, pickup/delivery details once a bid is accepted;
- Service providers who process data on our behalf (Stripe for payments, Supabase for hosting, Resend or similar for email, analytics);
- Government agencies and law enforcement where required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety;
- A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. International transfers
Some of our service providers (including Stripe and certain hosting infrastructure) process data outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. When this occurs, the data is subject to the laws of those jurisdictions and may be accessible to foreign authorities. We use providers that maintain industry-standard contractual and security safeguards.
6. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and for the period necessary to comply with legal, accounting, or reporting requirements (typically up to 7 years for financial records). You may request deletion of your account at any time; we will delete or anonymize your data except where retention is legally required.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Request deletion or de-indexing of your information;
- Withdraw consent (e.g. unsubscribe from marketing emails);
- Receive your information in a portable format;
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial commissioner.
To exercise these rights, email privacy@loadconnect.ca. We respond within 30 days.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, access controls, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant privacy authorities as required by law.
9. Children
The Platform is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice.
